control the distractions

So many times we understand what to do and what works to achieve success but the doing of it is the chore. We can see the possibilities and believe we can do it but creating the habit of accomplishing it can be very hard. It seems we get distracted so easily and permit even the smallest things to cause it. No matter how determined we are we still let things draw our attention away. Many things have been suggested and much instruction has been given but the results are still in the doing. The actions we personally take are the only ones that accomplish anything for us. Without the desire and determination to achieve our goals we won’t do it. Sometimes we feel we are in a helpless and hopeless situation with nowhere to turn and no help in view and many times we just stop. This is all right if we are assessing the situation but not if we are giving up. We should always have a plan of attack and be decided on what must be done. We must know no one else is going to take the action required for our success. It is solely our responsibility to “DO” what must be done. Consider our success of accomplishing anything as a three-legged stool. First we must have the desire to accomplish a task. Secondly, we must have the determination to accomplish it and thirdly we must also have the discipline to be driven in the direction required to achieve it. Without any of the three our task will fail, and likewise our stool would fall. With each factor supporting and reinforcing the other we will complete the task and accomplish the success of our goal. I believe this is what happens to most people. They want, but don’t have a strong enough desire to cause them to press toward it. They don’t have the determination to believe if they pursue it they can achieve it. And if they have these two, their discipline is not strong enough to control their distractions. Any of these parts can be strengthened or weakened by affecting the strength of the others. Each of us has the power inside us to do these things if we truly want but we must provide our “stool” with the parts to be strong
