health your responsibility

You know the old adage ‘You really appreciate something only after you have lost it’? Well, this is particularly true where health is concerned. Health fuels our life, it’s state determines whether you go through it on low or high revs, full of energy or sapped of it. Many people blame their genes or other accidental factors for their poor state of health. Don’t! You alone are responsible for your health. You alone determine whether you maintain good health all your life or become a victim of early physical decline and illness. Our bodies can take a lot of abuse but, if not treated properly, will eventually succumb to illness. Only through respect for the laws of nature will you be able to maintain perfect health. Most disease is self-inflicted, i.e. a direct consequence of your diet and lifestyle of which diet is the most important factor. The majority of people still believe that it is all right to mistreat and abuse their bodies all year round and, if and when they fall ill, seek quick-fix remedies by way of medication or, as a last resort, surgery. Despite evidence to the contrary, they put their trust in the wonderful advancements of western medical science, unquestioningly follow their doctors’ prescriptions and swallow new and largely untested drugs by the moutful rather than subject themselves to the discipline of a reasonable diet and lifestyle . Our body is such finely tuned instrument that, if kept in perfect condition or the state of homeostasis, which is perfect chemical balance, no germs, viruses or disease can harm it. As someone once said: the attempt to cure the human body by means of medication or surgery is equivalent to the attempt of repairing a fine Swiss watch with a sledge hammer. Maybe this analogy sounds far fetched to some but the implied message for health professionals is clear. In order to maintain perfect health in patients, a holistic approach must be taken. The methodology of orthodox western medical science to treat only the symptoms of disease rather than the whole organism is at best debatable. Do you remember how our fruit and vegetables tasted 5o years ago? Maybe you are luckily too young to go back that far. Sadly, today’s foods are being grown in soil with less and less nutrients and with the help of ever increasing quantities of artificial fertilizers, then stored for long periods in warehouses and pre-packaged with artificial flavour enhancers, colours and preservatives. By the time they reach the market, they are likely to have lost most of their nutritional value. It has therefore become necessary to look at minerals, vitamins and such natural food supplements that have been proven to be beneficial to your health and keep you in top condition.
